Making A Connection

Making a Connection

I have been blogging since late 2009 over at Ashabutterflys, Truthfully I did not know what I was doing when I first started. Now being 3 years since I started blogging I have meet so many great blogging friends from all over the world. Making connections as an Ambassador and at blogging conferences.

Being an Ambassador for a Brand it has to be a brand you believe and not just a brand you want to get stuff from. I am an Ambassador for a few brands like Veggie Tales and CopperTone. I really enjoy working with VeggieTales since it is a Brand that I believe in. I have been watching and buying VeggieTale movies long before I was an Ambassador and I will continue buying them.

Another thing that Bloggers do that most people do not known we do is go to blogging conferences. Blogging conferences are happening all the time and they are not cheap by any means. Last year when I went to Reviewers Retreat I send almost a $1,000 and that is not including my conference ticket that would have cost me $300 if I did not win it.

This year I am planning on going to two different conferences. The first one is Hispaniczed in Miami, FL April 9 – 13. This is an all Hispanic event that I am very excited about going to connect more with the Hispanic culture and more entertainment.

The second conference I want to go to is Blogher 13 this event is where hundreds of women bloggers come together and talk all things blogging. You connect with so many brands it is crazy. I have never been but from the pictures that I have seen I am sure it will be a blast.

All things Blogging and running a website take lots of time. Most have full time jobs and Family’s that rely on us for everything. For me I am in a house with 7 of us in it. My mom is on disability, my dad works, and my boyfriend is moving down in a month. While this is not my ideal choose, this is where I need to be now.  With my family, taking it one day at a time and making it another day.

So next time you think that bloggers are doing this for just the free stuff think again. When we get something for “Free” to review think again that “Free” item is in exchanged for are review, time and promoting. This is just like and other business we just get a product instead of cash. This is a full time task every me blogging every week taking me about 50 hours a Monday – Friday, I work 32 hours on the weekends (Yes in two days), As well as taking care of my son and family.

We all make mistakes and need to take a break some times. So instead of making a not so nice comment on a blog try thinking about what they are going through.

  1. I have not been to any blogging conferences – my full time job really makes that almost impossible. Plus my kids have special needs and although my husband can handling them and my inlaws live with us to help – it is hard for me to let go…BUT – I definitely don’t blog for money. I would be thrilled to some day make enough for my car payment…In the meantime – I do it because I love it… Athena http://www.thestuffofsucces.com
