Echoes by Robin Jones Gunn Book Review

Sometimes when we think everything’s gone wrong, it’s actually going right. Lauren has a stable life. She has a terrific job at a bank, working with her best friend, plus she has her own apartment. Jeff, her fiancé, has a good job too, plus they’re busily planning their wedding.

When a trip to the salon goes awry, Lauren’s neatly packaged world begins to come undone. Bad perms become the least of her problems when Jeff confesses he’s lost his job. Worse yet, he wants to accept a new one- in New York. She’s never been in a New York State of Mind & soon Jeff determines to go without her.

Mindy, her best friend stands strong with her as a sister in Christ & an impromptu visit from her brother helps to clear things up. Newly single & not knowing how God’s plan will play out, she allows her brother to ‘train’ her on the wonders of the Internet. By mistakenly emailing a man named KC, she opens her inbox & her heart to new feelings. Is God using a random occurrence to point her in the right direction?

Readers will quickly pick up on the fact that Lauren & Jeff aren’t meant to be. Then again, lovers are usually the last to realize when it’s over, aren’t they? It appears as if Jeff’s Christianity is only surface deep.

Mindy’s character is fun & I love her boldness in proclaiming the Gospel. This turned out to be a cute book & not ‘just another romance’. Thankfully, our heroine didn’t beg or plead for Jeff nor play off desperation by being promiscuous. Her morals stayed true. ‘Echoes’ is a romance mothers & daughters can share thanks to clean content- no risky scenes or sketchy dialogue. It’s just good, clean, fun!

An enjoyable read & one you can take poolside, I give I a 5 star rating.
